Platform Lifts

Platform lifts have become the most popular way of moving passengers or goods vertically within a building irrespective of its type. Unlike traditional lifts, platform lifts with or without cabin enclosures are easy to install generally only requiring limited builders work. As a result, these are significantly less expensive than a traditional traction or hydraulic lift.

Platform lifts are ideal for both commercial and residential environments, great for transporting passengers in wheelchairs, or limited numbers of passengers typically between 2 to 5 in low rise buildings of 5 floors.

There are many options for different types of commercial & residential platform lifts. These include:

Platform lift technology

Unlike traditional lifts, platform lifts do not require a deep pit at the base of the lift, a traditional lift shaft or a motor-room; they are generally are supplied with self-contained structures that easy to install. Mainly, they use energy efficient electric motors and screw-driven drive technology, or are supplied with hydraulic systems both types are benefit from low-running costs and require minimal servicing.

Commercial, public and residential sector solutions

Available in a variety of different types, platform lifts are flexible for different requirements and are easy to maintain. For commercial or public buildings, they can help with compliance for the Equality Act 2010 (formerly DDA) and Building Regulations Part ‘M’, ensuring that buildings are offering the appropriate, fair accessibility solutions. As they are mainly installed within self-standing structures, platform lifts can easily be fully customised to match the interior/exterior environments they are to be installed in. This is of particular importance in residential environments, where platform lifts can become an aesthetically pleasing addition to the home.
